Four Mile Beach

The famous Four Mile Beach begins at the northern rocky headland with its pristine whites sandy beach gently curving and lined by palm trees as far as the eye can see.

The beach is patrolled by Surf Lifesaving Queensland and during November–May, a stinger net swimming enclosure is in place to provide a safe swimming environment.

Sunday Markets

Held in Rex Smeal Park at the end of Macrossan Street, the markets are an easy stroll from Closehaven Marina. Bordered by Dickson Inlet and Wharf Street the location is picturesque with the mountain ranges and Coral Sea in the background. Established almost 25 years ago, Port Douglas Sunday Markets provide locally made hand crafted goods of every description.

Wednesday Afternoon Sailing

Each Wednesday afternoon, the Port Douglas Yacht Club has free (or a small nominal fee) sunset sailing. Just come along and they will match you with a boat for a sailing experience. You can also head back to the Club afterwards to enjoy dinner and drinks (own expense).

At the top of Island Point Road, you’ll discover the unsurpassed view from Flagstaff Hill lookout. It was originally known as 'Billy Goat Hill' in the early days when goats were prevalent in the district! Don’t forget you camera for the breathtaking view down to Four Mile Beach.

Port Douglas Carnivale

The annual Port Douglas Carnivale is a wonderful celebration of life in this tropical paradise featuring events, entertainment and activities for all.

Port Douglas Carnivale began in 1994 when the locals created a fiesta around a yacht race. Today, it’s a magical festival held in May. There’s music, arts, sports, food, culture and all styles of entertainment. A grand parade kicks off Carnivale with the Macrossan Street Parade, a delightful showcase attracting many floats and thousands of spectators.
